The Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership for all work opportunities and projects entering the Metalworks facility, overseeing scopes and estimates from inception through the pre-manufacturing phase and serving as a primary technical authority throughout the manufacturing phase. This role drives continuous improvement, mentors engineering staff, and shapes the long-term operational and business development direction of Metalworks across all regions.

Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager
The Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership for all work opportunities and projects entering the Metalworks facility, overseeing scopes and estimates from inception through the pre-manufacturing phase and serving as a primary technical authority throughout the manufacturing phase. This role drives continuous improvement, mentors engineering staff, and shapes the long-term operational and business development direction of Metalworks across all regions.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
- Leads and elevates client management and customer service strategy for both internal (USE Construction, USE Innovations) and external (3rd party) customers:
- Builds, develops, and sustains high-value strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategically partners with client Project teams and executive leadership to identify, pursue, and win fabrication opportunities.
- Develops long-range forecasts and integrates multiple customers’ project schedules to optimize shop capacity planning and resource allocation.
- Leads project pursuits and directs preparation of high-value proposals for 3rd party work.
- Champions marketing of Metalworks capabilities, including development of product documentation, case studies, and value proposition materials.
- Leads contract review processes, negotiating favorable language and ensuring all contractual obligations are clearly defined and met.
- Directs and oversees pre-manufacturing project planning:
- Leads cross-functional alignment with Metalworks Project Manager(s) and Metalworks Trade Managers on scopes, schedules, and estimates, resolving conflicts and driving accountability.
- Establishes standards for review of incoming technical customer data, ensuring quality, completeness, and manufacturing readiness; mentors team members in applying these standards.
- Develops and validates complex budget estimates utilizing WAM/SMACNA methods; drives adoption and optimization of estimating platforms including “Shop Floor System - WAM” across the team.
- Serves as subject matter expert and organizational champion for technology platforms including Shop Floor System, Procore, BIM360, Stratus, etc.; drives adoption and evaluates emerging tools to enhance operational efficiency.
- Provides executive-level leadership by inspiring and developing the team through clear vision, informed communication, and strategic collaboration; removes systemic roadblocks, drives process excellence, and actively shapes the direction of USE to achieve enterprise-wide goals.
- Demonstrates a passion for safety in collaboration with the Safety/QA Manager to achieve “zero unsafe behaviors” and a shop culture of looking out for each other.
- Supports a positive workplace culture that aligns with USE Company Holdings Cultural Norms.
- Community: Active in internal U.S. Engineering cross company engagements and considers external philanthropic and industry events.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing project management, including at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role, is required.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, materials and fabrication processes.
- Must possess technical knowledge of HVAC systems, as well as a basic knowledge of plumbing systems and industrial processes.
- Ability to lead, coach, and elevate performance of engineering managers and project teams through strategic vision, mentoring, and effective senior management techniques.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills, such as diplomacy, persuasion, etc. are essential to develop and foster effective professional relationships.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Strong financial acumen, including the ability to manage multi-project budgets, forecast business unit performance, and identify opportunities to improve margin and operational efficiency.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and advanced fluency in manufacturing and project management platforms (Procore, BIM360, Stratus, Shop Floor System, or equivalent).
- Ability to problem-solve, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-team projects to successful completion on schedule and within budget, while maintaining quality standards and client satisfaction.
Physical and/or Travel Demands
- Work will be done in a combination of environments; includes the manufacturing floor, office setting, job sites, etc.
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, use of monitor and telephone. Occasional climbing, reaching, stooping, and lifting required.
- Travel requirements: Regular travel across all Metalworks regions is expected; frequency will be based on business needs and regional priorities.
Benefits and Compensation:
- The range for this position has been established at $118K to $166K salary and is U.S. Engineering good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
